Left Behind & The Legacy

I’ve always held on a little tighter than I let people see. When my grandmother passed away, I found myself holding on to letters and buttons in drawers, any remnants that a life was once lived. If I held on to these things, even when no one else saw the value in them, it was her legacy living on. This continued, until I have now developed an archive of lives that came before mine and have become my legacy. Left Behind and The Legacy is a two-book set, created to discuss my personal family history and what I hope to leave behind as a designer.

Left Behind

Left Behind is a collection of items and stories I have inherited over my lifetime. Each piece is a symbol of a life well lived and these forgotten stories being continuously carried on by me. While these lives are not my own, I carry them as a way of respecting those that came before me and the legacy they laid. Brick by brick, they made paths for me to be where I am today. Many of the memories have been manipulated or added to, as these histories are now part of my own.

The Legacy

The Legacy is what I am choosing to leave behind. While being filled with thoughts on design, these same thoughts bleed into every part of my life and who I am. With them lays a collection of moments and memories from my undergraduate studies. The written content in The Legacy is a culmination of thoughts about design, developed and discussed throughout a senior-level class during my undergraduate.
