PENNY
In 1792, the U.S. Mint opens in Philadelphia, the capital of the country at the time. It was a slow and laborious process of cutting the coins with the power of horses and men. As this was happening inside the city, the candy market was putting down roots on the coast due to the large ports. These two industries drive to the heart of Philadelphia: determination and hard work.
Penny is a candied mint subscription product designed for times of diligence and dedication. Intended to display on a desk or collected on a shelf of a studio, Penny is there to fit into the creative’s life. The goal of the project was to create a subscription box for an organic candy brand. Whether it be the color choices to signify the patina process of pennies or the use of a custom typeface (Franc Luron), this project relied on careful considerations and decision-making.
